There are only a few players who made their debut in Test cricket and then donned the rainbow jersey of the country. Root is one of them. His success in Test cricket at this young age is sensational. In 41 matches he scored 3486 at an average of 54.46 with nine hundred and a double hundred. He is a prolific batsman, his long stay at crease means a plethora of runs will be scored. He is equally good in limited over formats. In 2013 he made his ODI debut. So far he played 68 ODIs and scored 2527 runs at an average of 44.34 with a strike rate of 84.46. He also adopted the T20 format outstandingly. Unlike the Test and ODI formats here his strike rate is 138.78. He has time to improve and more aggressive. In the 2016 World T20 in India, he played some of the lusty knocks for England that helped England to qualify for the final for the second time. So far he played only 20 T20 matches and scored 594 runs at ana average of 39.69.
