Hashim Amla 33
The late bloomer of South African cricket is a prolific right-handed opener. Whatever records Virat Kohli is nothing up he is breaking one after another. He is great in both ODI and Test cricket. He was the highest run-scorer in ODI format for the 2014-2015 season. He broke Virat Kohli’s fastest 5000 runs and 6000 runs records. In both Test and ODI, he averages 51.45 and 51.72. He played fewer matches than Virat Kohli in ODI.
His limited over career started late as South African top order and middle order was congested with a lot of talented players for a long time. The right-handed batsman appeared in international in 2004. He is a regular batsman in Test format but ODI and T20 career started in 2008 and 2009 respectively.
He could have been the best the greatest batsman of the limited over cricket. If he born in the 1990s Virat Kohli could have faced a tough competition from Amla. But Amla’s retirement is just a matter or 5 to 6 years. So Virat will have a good opportunity to batter all of them to be the greatest cricketer of his generation. However, the above cricketers are younger than him except Steve Smith and David Warner so they can challenge him. And they have already risen in Test cricket, the parameter of greatness, but Virat yet to shine there.
