Garry Sobers:
He is unquestionably the greatest ever all-rounder in the history as he excelled in all aspects of the game. His exceptional batting average resonates how he was as a batsman. And bowling was supremely good. He was a great catcher too. Like AB de Villiers, Sobers has played a different type of games for Barbados. Baseball, volleyball, and football were also in his fascinations. But he chose cricket and appeared in first-class cricket at the age of 16. And then he got a break into the West Indies team.
He was a powerful stroke maker of the ball and have all technique to play the Test cricket with fierce aggression. In 1971, he scored 254 for Rest of the World that brought appreciation from none other than Sir Donald Bradman. Sobers, showing his striking skills, hit six sixes off the over of unfortunate Malcolm Nash.
Like other West Indies players, he too plies his trade around the world. He played for Nottinghamshire and Western Australia.
In 1975, he was knighted for his service to the cricket.
His career graph proved that he could have been a true T20 cricketer, and would have excelled in the shortest format of the game.
