Another shocking name in this list is that of former Sri Lanka captain Mahela Jayawardene. Blessed with an excellent hand-eye coordination and a fine technique, Jayawardene is one of the best players of all time.

With over 10,000 runs in both Tests and ODIs, Jayawardene holds the record for the highest Test score by a right-handed batsman for his monumental 374 run innings against South Africa in 2006.

The elegant batsman has played 149 Tests, scoring 11,814 with the help of 34 centuries and 50 half-centuries, but still failed to retire with an average of 50-plus, as he bowed out of the game with a career average of 49.84 in Tests.
