- Royal Challengers Bangalore – 5:
RCB began their first edition of the IPL on a somber note as they ended up being second from bottom. With Rahul Dravid leading them in the very first season, the team seemed utterly short on confidence and that was evident in the lackluster performances being churned out. In the second season, owner Vijay Mallya spent millions acquiring the services of Kevin Pietersen as the captain.
However, Pietersen was available only for a few games, and once he left, it was time for Anil Kumble to take charge. That move changed Bangalore’s campaign for good as the former Indian Test captain brought about a complete overhaul. Under Kumble’s leadership, RCB stood as the runners up in 2009 and third in 2010. After Kumble called it a day, Kiwi legend Daniel Vettori took reigns of the team and he too ended up taking his team as the runners-up in 2011.
Virat Kohli took over as the full-time captain in 2013, but tasted success only in 2015, 2016 as RCB stood third and second respectively. With Kohli leading them now, the side is destined for further greatness.
