
- Kings XI Punjab – 8:
Glenn Maxwell is set to become the ninth captain of Kings XI Punjab in the upcoming edition of the IPL. The side began its IPL journey with India’s then vice-captain Yuvraj Singh, leading them to semi-finals in 2008. After a poor 2009 season, Kumar Sangakkara was named as the captain as Yuvraj struggled for form. In the 2010 edition itself, along with Sangakkara, Mahela Jayawardene too led the team for a few games.
After a major team overhaul in 2011, Adam Gilchrist took over the leadership duties and managed to do well despite not getting the desired results. Gilchrist led till the end of the 2013 season, with David Hussey too chipping in the as the captain for a few games.
In 2014, with several new faces in the line-up, George Bailey was named the skipper and the Aussie did a terrific job as KXIP stood the runners-up, finishing second to Kolkata Knight Riders. Post a devastating 2015 season, David Miller was asked to lead the team in 2016, but was replaced midway by Murali Vijay after a string of losses.
