# 2 Vivian Richards
Sir Vivian Richards was in the class of his own during that era. Richards would hammer any bowling unit with his destructive style of play. Richards was strong on both sides of the wicket and had the ability to judge the length of any delivery very quickly.
The right-hander would outperform the bowlers with his wristy unconventional flicks and powerful drives. Anything short of length Richards was quick to put the ball away. The flamboyant batsman wasn’t afraid to attack the bowlers by charging down the wicket.
“ King Richards” as he was fondly called was the greatest batsman West Indies had ever produced and was a handy fielder inside the circle. His intimidating presence would break the bowlers’ rhythm. Richards scored 8540 runs in 121 tests. Vivian Richards will be remembered as one of the legendary players West Indies has ever produced.
