5 Most Feared West Indies Batsmen During 1970s And 80s 2

Gordon Greenidge would be considered one of the greatest openers to have played for West Indies. Known to be an attractive stroke-player, Greenidge paced his innings smartly and looked to play straight on seaming wickets.

Greenidge handled the spinners well in the sub-continent while his defense against them looked solid. Greenidge would play the ball quite late on slow wickets and would punish the bowlers if there was anything outside the off-stump area. Greenidge looked steady while playing the square cuts and cover-drives. Greenidge scored 7558 runs in 108 tests. Greenidge also scored 5134 runs in 128 One day Internationals.
