Desmond Haynes was a perfect partner for Gordon Greenidge as the duo knew each other’s game quite well. Haynes would try to attack the bowlers in the initial overs in the limited-overs cricket but didn’t take risks while playing in the longer formats.

Haynes would change his game as per the condition of the wicket and would try to play the ball on the front foot. Haynes would outthink the bowlers with his classy on-drives and would mostly drive down the wicket to full-length deliveries. Haynes also showcased his strength while playing square of the wicket. Haynes also played swing well in English conditions.

Haynes was equally strong while playing on bouncy Australian wickets. Haynes scored 7487 runs in 116 tests while his One Day International record was equally impressive where he scored 8648 runs in 238 One Day Internationals.
