He was heavily tipped to be picked in the Indian squad for the West Indies tour after a brilliant Ranji Trophy season where he helped Mumbai to win the trophy. The right-handed batsman led the scoring chart in the domestic tournament with 1321 runs in only 14 matches with the help of 4 centuries and 7 half-centuries. But a poor showing in the IPL might have cost him a place in the team. Anyway, he has been a brilliant and consistent performer in the longest format and deserved a chance in the team.
