Sanath Jayasuriya vs India 2nd test in Colombo (1997)

Sanath Jayasuriya was one of the most explosive batsmen in the World during his period, but the opener maintained calmness under pressure. Jayasuriya built his innings well and didn’t take too many risks. The opener was quick to put the bad balls away with his powerful square cuts and wristy flicks.
Jayasuriya rotated the strike intelligently and didn’t allow the Indian bowlers to dictate the terms. The left-hander split the field with his destructive cover drives and powerful pull shots.
The opener hit 21 boundaries and two sixes in that innings. His innings helped Sri-Lanka to reach 415/7 (decl.). Although the match ended in a draw, Jayasuriya was the star performer for Sri-Lanka.
