- Reliability of Cheteshwar Pujara:
Ending the season with a batting average of 62.66, to go along with 4 centuries, Pujara was easily the best Indian batsman around. Pujara had his way against all the visiting teams as his traditional approach to batting did the trick for India. His tactic of initially grinding down the bowlers and then accelerating reaped tremendous rewards throughout the entire campaign. His 525 ball vigil at Ranchi was an instance of his ever-patient mindset where he could literally meditate in the middle and mentally devastate the opposing bowlers. But if India are to thank one person for changing their fortunes in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, it has to be Pujara. A resilient knock of 92 at Bangalore where he got India back into the game and the series eventually, just defines his ability as a champion in pressure situations.
