The Indian team will play New Zealand in a five-match ODI series starting from 16th October. With selectors announcing the ODI squad for the first 3 One-day international, they have given chances to youngsters who have performed well in the India A tour of Australia.

Mandeep Singh has made into the senior team with excellent performance for India A in limited overs tour of Australia. He opened the innings for India A and scored 198 runs in the quadrangular series which the India A team won. With the likes of KL Rahul, Dhawan injured, it gives him a great chance for him to perform well against top quality bowling attack. Working with Rahul Dravid, Mandeep Singh has become a much-improved batsmen. In the ODI series against New Zealand, he would open with Rohit Sharma which would help him a lot. Mandeep Singh made his T20 debut against Zimbabwe on 18th June 2016.
