On this day 33 years ago Indian team created a history as they went on to defeat the mighty west indies in the final of the 1983 prudential world cup. A team who was not at all in contention of winning the cup shocked everyone by defeating Caribbean boys in the finals. Right from the start of the world cup till the interval, West Indies was the favourites but Indian team astounded everyone by winning the cup. With this win, the team also proved that the first win over the same team was not just a fluke. Reading about the stories of the glory of that team is a sheer joy for a fan like me who was born 12 years later but yes enjoying and relishing that moments is what I can do.

After that world cup win the Indian team had to wait for another 28 years to get their hands on the cup again. On April 2 in the year 2011 with a six of Nuwan Kulasekara, M.S. Dhoni fulfilled the dream of every Indian to win the world cup.  The Dhoni’s army emulated and won the world cup.

But still, there are few reasons which prove that the win of 1983 was of more importance than the recent one due to the following reasons –
