No support from media, fans – Even before the start of 2011 world cup Indian team was termed as favourites by the Indian media and the fans. This springs the morale and confidence of the team whereas this was not the case in 1983. The lack of support and limelight during the world cup 1983 added to woes of Indian team as even after the win over England in semi-finals, no one praised team India was just marking the west indies team as the favourites. This did not hurt the Indian team. This was not the case in 2011 world cup as we saw that people galore praises on team India after every win. Fans praised, prayed, fasted and did everything they could have done for the Indian team. The opposite of this was the case I 1983 world cup.
