Kohli’s aggressive nature and the winning mentality was on full display during his very first game as India’s captain. In MS Dhoni’s absence, he was given the responsibility to lead the side again Australia in the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar series in 2014. Australia set India a target of 364 runs. With just one day remaining in the match, any former skipper would have tried to play for a draw but it was not enough for the Delhi cricketer. Leading from the front, he scored 141 runs to take India agonisingly close to a memorable win but eventually fell short by 48 runs.
