The southpaw is the leading run scorer of Sunrisers Hyderabad and second in the IPL. He scored 773 runs in 16 matches at an average of 59.92 and at a strike rate of 149.23. Warner from the beginning of this IPL contributing helped SRH to pile up a modest total while quality bowling department defended the target.  Shikhar Dhawan struggled in the first couple of matches so the pressure was on the captain to perform. Warner under pressure did remarkable well as his innings and small partnership with the middle order and lower middle batsmen helped him to score a good total or chase a target.

In the middle phase of IPL Warner failed to fire in a couple of matches in those matches Dhawan batted well.

But Warner showing his character in the second qualifier played the best innings of the tournament. He stayed like a rock while chasing a challenging total 161 against Gujarat Lions.  When Warner was playing his natural shot to keep the run rate in his control the other end was destroyed like a pack cards.

Warner, though, did not lose his patience. His partnership with an unlikely ally Bipul Sharma made his job quite easier to reach home. Finally, he was unbeaten at 93.
