- Reintroducing the runner:

Former Pakistan opener Saeed Anwar held the world record for the highest individual score in ODI’s for a really long time with his knock of 194. However, a basic aspect about that knock which is overlooked is the fact that Anwar batted with a runner for a major chunk of his innings owing to the extreme heat of Chennai and cramps. Had there been no runner back then, fans would have not witnessed the master class of Anwar. The move behind scrapping the runner’s rule by the ICC hardly made sense, as it took away the incentive from injured batsmen, who genuinely strive to make a contribution despite injuries. Several greats of the game have spoken in favor of reintroducing the rule and doing so would just add more value to the game.
