Michael Vandort managed to represent Sri Lanka in just one ODI but managed to make a big mark although not for the right reasons.
After Australia put up a daunting 318-5 from their 50 overs, Sri Lanka had their back against the walls against the reigning world champions’ formidable bowling lineup consisting the likes of Glenn McGrath, Brett Lee and Nathan Bracken. Sri Lanka were staring down the barrel after both their openers returned back to the pavilion with only 11 runs on the board and the chase became next to impossible when Vandort, coming out to bat at number three, scored 48 off just 117 balls. The Islanders had gone on to lose the match by 116 runs.
