Five Star Attractions Of IPL 2017

The tenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to commence from April 5. The time of the year when cricketers from around the world come together to mesmerise the Indian fans is back once again. Over the years, many players have taken centre stage and sizzled with their superb performances.

A few anticipated ones fail but others have generally done well.  The expectation from the fans are always sky high and they always look forwards to watch a bunch of promising names in action.

Here in this article, we list five such names who are been eagerly anticipated to do well in the upcoming season.

Rishabh Pant:

Rishabh Pant has created an identity for himself in a short span of time. The stocky left-hander has clearly taken his batting abilities a level up that what it was a year ago. After grabbing the headlines with sterling performances for India at the Under 19 level in the Youth World Cup, Pant showed a great hunger to succeed at the higher level and was duly given an opportunity to do so by Delhi Daredevils in IPL 9.

The franchise made him one of the most attractive buys and snapped him for a record 1.9 crores. Though, he wasn’t able to make any immediate impact, managing just 198 runs in 10 matches; Pant was unfazed and gave record-breaking performances for his Ranji side Delhi.

The 19-year-old amassed 972 runs in just 8 matches at an average of 107 including a triple century. His antics didn’t stop there. His exploits eventually earned him his international debut against England in the third and the final T20I where he announced his arrival with a superb half-century. All these performances in the last season make him the most exciting player to watch out for.

Ishan Kishan:

Rishabh Pant’s skipper in the Under 19 World and contemporary from Jharkhand is also more or less anticipated to fare well this season. Although not as successful as Pant, Ishan has also managed to gain a fearsome reputation with the bat despite being a teenager.

Ishan also benefitted from his performances at the under – 19 World Cup last year and landed an IPL contract with the newly formed franchise Gujarat Lions. Unfortunately, he could get only five games. But, what makes his appearance this year more exciting is his current form in the domestic circuit.

In the recently concluded Ranji Trophy, Kishan played a clinical role in taking Jharkhand to their first ever knocks stage appearance, scoring 799 runs in 10 matches at an average of 83.92. These stats are surely impressive.

Mustafizur Rahman:

The young Mustafizur Rahman is gem produced by Bangladesh. There is probably nothing wrong in saying that the wiry left arm fast bowler is the most valuable cricketer in Bangladesh at present. After stunning top opposition like India and Pakistan with his brainy bowling, Rahman fetched by Sunrisers Hyderabad for a whopping 1.4 crores.

The franchise decision of splurge the huge amount turned out to be golden as the 21-year-old, with 17 wickets in 16 matches, played a pivotal role in the side’s title-winning run. India fans will definitely be waiting for him to again team up with Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Ashish Nehra and bamboozle the batsman one again with his cutters and away swingers. Also, since the end of the IPL 9, injuries have hurt him forcing to miss a good chunk of cricketing action which definitely adds up to the excitement factor around him.

Mitchell Starc:

Mitchell Starc, arguably the best fast bowler at the moment in the world, will add strength to the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the upcoming season. The left-arm fast bowler was forced to miss out the previous season due to an ankle injury but is set to make a return on the Indian soil.

RCB, who finished as the runners-up last season, will be delighted for obvious reasons as the lack of a fast bowling spearhead was clearly visible last season. Also, Starc’s capability of bowling yorkers and touching top bowling speeds makes him an exciting feature.

Chris Lynn:

Australian batsman Chris Lynn, who was in ballistic form in this year’s Big Bash League, will be another star player to watch out for this IPL season. He has, in the past couple of years, sealed his reputation of being a highly aggressive batsman capable of scripting victories all on his own.

The right-handed batsman looked like an unstoppable force when he got going and formed the back of the Brisbane Heat batting order. His BBL performances which sum up to 309 runs in 5 matches earned him the player of the tournament award. These stats surely makes fans excitingly await his arrival.
