Indian spinner Bapu Nadkarni bowled 21 consecutive maiden overs vs England at Chennai

Bapu Nadkarni

On 12th January, 1964, something happened that is unbelievable and is still very tough to break. India was playing against England in Madras when Bapu Nadkarni did a magic with his bowling. This slow left-arm orthodox bowler bowled 21 maiden overs in a row against England in Chennai. Bapu finished with the figures of 32-27-5-0. He was frugal in the second innings too and ended up with another great bowling spell of 6-4-6-2.

No doubt, this magical bowling spell of Bapu Nadkarni from India’s perspective should be a big motivation for the young spinners. Nadkarni was also one of the most noted economists ever in the game of cricket with the mind blowing figures of 1.67 runs per over in the longer formats.
