5 ways that India can beat Australia in the One day International series
The Indian team played its first the warm-up match where the batsmen spent time in the middle and scored runs. With the One-day International series coming up from 12th January, the Indian must try different combinations keeping in mind upcoming tournaments and especially World T20. Before ODI Series, India might miss Mohammad Shami and Jasprit Bumrah could be standby bowler.
Here we look at 5 tactics that India can beat Australia in One-day international series at their own den.
1. Try to get a perfect 11
The Indian team must have right playing XI for each match. The Indian team must include three fast bowlers and two spinners. The fast bowling department might consist of Brainder Sran, Mohammad Shami who might return to India to due to injury, Rishi Dhawan and two spinners in the form of Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja. They might also try Gurkeerat Singh Mann as an all rounder, 3 fast bowlers and 1 spinner. It will be crucial for the Indian team to get a perfect XI according to conditions. The Indian team will be looking for the right combination and win a One-day International series in Australia which will be a great boost ahead of the World T20.
2. Openers to give a good start
The Indian openers Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma must get the team off to a good start. They must play shots according to the merit of the ball. Shikhar Dhawan’s main problem overseas has been that he has been playing shots away from the body while Rohit Sharma must take time and build a solid opening partnership to give a middle order a chance to post a competitive total. In the past year both have got starts but has not been able to convert starts into big scores. If these two can give India good starts in the One-day International series then India has a brilliant chance of defeating Australia in Australia.
3. The middle order to cash in
If Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan give India a good start then it will be the responsibility for the middle order to cash in on the start. The middle order comprises of Kohli, Rahane, Manish Pandey and MS Dhoni. All these 4 players must bat according to the situation and help the Indian team positive competitive totals on pitches which will help the fast bowlers. They must play shots with intent and not allow the Australian bowlers to get control over the Indian batsmen. If the middle order can cash in the middle over’s it will be easy for the Indian team to beat Australia in Australia.
4. MS Dhoni to lead from the front
The biggest test for MS Dhoni in this tour of Australia to lead from the front with both bat and captaincy. His captaincy has been under scanner losing the One-day International series against Bangladesh and South Africa in 2015. He must decide his batting order and if the team needs him to bat at number 4. He must rediscover his finishing abilities. His focus should be on bringing positive bowling changes according to match situations. If Dhoni can do these two things then India can beat Australia in Australia.
5. Give youngsters a chance
The Indian team has brought four youngsters for the One-day International series that will be playing for the first in Australia. In the batting department Manish Pandey who had a great domestic circuit while Gurkeerat Singh Mann and Rishi Dhawan are the allrounders they might be looking for. In the bowling department, Brainder Sran might get a chance of playing. These players have got a chance to play for the country and it will be interesting who will get a chance in the One-day International series.
