The BCCI received a total of 57 applications for India’s next coach role. In this Ravi Shastri and Sandeep Patil are most famous names included. The deadline for applications for India’s coach post was 10th June.
“At the close of June 10, 2016, the timeline set for receiving applications for the position of the Head Coach of the Indian Cricket Team, BCCI has received a total of 57 applications from coaches within India and overseas,” the release stated.
“The primary scrutiny of the applications received is now being carried out by the Office of the Honorary Secretary of the BCCI, with regards to the applicants, meeting the set eligibility criteria.
Various former players like Prasad, Robin Singh, Balwinder Singh Sandhu, Kanitkar have applied for the post of coach job.
Shastri contract was not extended after World T20 held in March- April this year. They went through a process and Ravi Shastri is the front runner to become the coach of India again. Shastri had a great coach stint winning the Asia Cup and also the test series against Sri Lanka and South Africa.
Sandeep Patil term as a head selector will be over and he also applied for India’ coach post. Stuart Law and Jason Gillespie have also applied for India’s coach job. Lalchand Rajput, Vikram Rathod, and others have applied for India’s coach post.
It will be interesting to see who the coach of Indian team becomes. After the exit of Duncan Flecther, Ravi Shastri became the Director of the Indian team in 2014 and his contract was extended till World Cup T20.
