BCCI announced the One-day International and T20 team for the Australian tour starting from 12th January. The team is a mix of experienced and fresh faces that have performed well in Ranji Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy. They will be looking to perform well on the Australian tour. Here we look at the 6 Indian players who would be looking to make an impression in the Australian tour.

  1.        Yuvraj Singh

Yuvraj Singh, the match winner for India, has been selected for T20 series against Australia. His recent performances in the Vijay Hazare Trophy has forced the selectors to select him in the team. He played a key role in India’s win in the first T20 World Cup in 2007 and was the man of the series in the World Cup 2011 in which he contributed with the bat and ball. In 2011, Yuvraj Singh was diagnosed with a malignant tumor in his left lung and underwent a chemotherapy treatment in Boston. He made a comeback to the squad in T20 match against New Zealand in September shortly before World T20 in 2012. He was a part of the T20 squad for the World T20 in 2014 where he played a very slow innings. Yuvraj Singh would be looking perform well in the T20 series against Australia and stake a claim in the T20 squad.

  1.        Ashish Nehra

Ashish Nehra, the Indian experienced bowler, was recalled in the Indian T20 squad. Ashish Nehra played his last T20 match fours years ago. BCCI said that he is a consistent bowler. In IPL 8, he performed well for Chennai Super Kings. He took 22 wickets in 16 games with an economy of 7.2. His selection in the Indian team raised eyebrows. Sachin Tendulkar said Ashish Nehra deserves a comeback in the national squad. Ashish Nehra will be hoping to give decent performance in the upcoming series against Australia. India lost to South Africa in the T20 series 0-2. India needed some experienced bowlers who can bowl well in the death overs.

  1.        Manish Pandey

Manish Pandey has been selected for the One-day International squad in place of Suresh Raina. He made his debut this year against Zimbabwe. He has been a consistent performer for Karnataka in the Ranji Trophy and List A matches. Manish Pandey, a right handed batsman has played in Australian pitches for India A squad. Apart from that, he is an excellent fielder. He will be eager to grab this chance with both and stake a claim in the World T20 squad. His performance in IPL was also impressive.

  1.        Brainder Sran

Brainder Sran, a young left arm pace bowler, has been selected for the One-day Internationals against Australia. In the Vijay Hazare Trophy matches, he played for Punjab and picked 12 wickets. He is a left-arm bowler which will have a big advantage on Australian pitches which will have pace and bounce. With Mohammad Shami on the other end, the BCCI wanted variety in the pace attack. Brainder Sran has been impressive for Punjab in the Ranji Trophy too. With a golden chance, the young fast bowler will be looking to perform and come out with flying colors.

  1.         Mohammad Shami

Mohammad Shami also was recalled in the Indian squad for both One-day International and T20 squads. He played his last One-day International in the World Cup 2015 where India reached the semifinals of the tournament. Since then he has not played much cricket. Mohammad Shami will be effective on Australian pitches which will have pace and bounce. His comeback will help the Indian pace bowling attack which has been struggling in recent times. Mohammad Shami will be looking to pick wickets and gain confidence for the T20 World Cup.

  1.        Ravindra Jadeja

Ravindra Jadeja has been included for the Australian tour in both One-day International and T20 squads. In his comeback series against South Africa, he performed well taking 21 wickets. In the Vijay Hazare Trophy, he also performed reasonably well to comeback into the Indian team.  He was dropped from the Indian team who played his One-day International in July this year. Ravindra Jadeja will be eager to perform as an all rounder and again become a permanent member of the squad.
