The left-handed batsman wouldn’t have imagined that he would end up receiving flak from the Indian people after the series against Australia. First, he failed to impress with his gloves, instead, played a key role in losing the game.

In the final ODI, he was given a chance to bat at number 4 for the team. Once again, he failed to deliver things for the team. However, he will be the backup wicketkeeper of MS Dhoni, which would push selectors to think regarding his performance with the bat only.

His strongest competition would be Dinesh Karthik. The right-handed batsman has done fairly enough job to be back in the side. However, Pant can get the nod if selectors feel embedding left-handed batsman in the team would benefit.
