India’s losing run continues as Australia beat India by 36 runs in the T20 tri-series tournament at Mumbai. The Aussies bowlers were brilliant as they restricted India to 150 after posting 186 on the board.
Batting first on a run-scoring paradise, Australia didn’t get off to a flier, however, made it up in the middle overs. Striving at 29 for two within four overs, Beth Mooney and Ellyse Villani changed their team’s fate. Both continued their good run in this series so far as they added 114 for the third wicket.
Mooney’s (71) knock included eight boundaries while Villani (61) struck ten fours. However, some good hitting in the end by Rachael Haynes ensured Australia post 186.
Meanwhile, Indian bowlers were below par giving tons of runs like the last match against England. However, 17-year-old Pooja Vastrakar ended up with two wickets.
In reply, Indian batters failed to come good as a team as they lost three early wickets. Half-centurions from the last match, Smriti Mandhana, and Mithali Raj failed to get going in this match. However, young Jemimah Rodrigues scored her maiden fifty, however, failed to match up with the required-rate.
Australian pacer Megan Schutt registered a hattrick as she removed Mandhana, Raj, and Deepti Sharma on consecutive deliveries.
Although, skipper Harmanpreet Kaur (33) and Anuja Patil (38*) tried her best but failed to take her team over the rope.
Delissa Kimmince and Ashleigh Gardner were economical throughout as India managed to score only 150 runs in their quota of 20 overs.
With three loss from three matches, India is knocked out of the series. They will play a dead rubber against England on March 29.
