As coronavirus has triggered a game of cricket, the cricket pundits are entertaining fans with giving engaging content on cricket. In this regard, former Indian cricketer-turned-commentator Aakash Chopra, and former Pakistan cricketer-turned-commentator Ramiz Raja had a long discussion over India and Pakistan cricket. The highlight of the discussion was when Chopra was asked to select between the Sourav Ganguly and MS Dhoni’s era as a captain.
Sourav Ganguly and MS Dhoni ‘s contribution as the Indian captain had been unmatchable. Ganguly praised the team when the allegations of match-fixing surrounded it while Dhoni gave India unforgettable victories in ICC events.
Aakash Chopra Picks Sourav Ganguly’s era over MS Dhoni’s era:

Aakash Chopra picked Ganguly’s era. He believes that Ganguly laid the foundation of the match-winning team while Dhoni took the team forward. He has drawn the comparison between the two captains as following:
“I would pick Sourav Ganguly’s era. He had to regain the trust of the people after the match-fixing scandal and make a team from scratch. His eye for talent stood out as he brought in young talents and also went forward with the support of other senior players. We started winning overseas [such as, drawing in England and Australia and winning in Pakistan]. Dhoni reaped rewards of all this but he excelled for his exceptional man-manager skills as he had to handle big stars and young players. He did that really well.”
Sourav Ganguly had done an incredible job for India:

In 2000, when Sachin Tendulkar resigned from the captain’s post, Ganguly was given the position. He took the team forward and also led the team to the finals of the 2003 World Cup. Under his captaincy, India won the memorable Test match against Australia at Eden Gardens.
While MS Dhoni, who is currently under sabbatical, has given India three ICC trophies- 2007 T20 World Cup, 2011 World Cup, 2013 ICC Champions Trophy. He is the most successful captain in India’s cricket history. The former Indian captain has not played with the Indian team after the disheartening World Cup 2019.
