Aakash Chopra wants Aaron Finch and Devdutt Padikkal to open for RCB
Chopra wants the duo of Aaron Finch and Devdutt Padikkal to be opening for RCB this term. Aakash Chopra has heaped praises for Paddikal and picked him over veteran Parthiv Patel to open. He also picked skipper Virat Kohli to bat at number 3, AB de Villiers at number 4, Moeen Ali at 5, and Shivam Dube at 6 and said it looked a fantastic batting lineup.
“I am going with Aaron Finch and Devdutt Padikkal. Parthiv Patel can also be there but I am going with Devdutt Padikkal, so that AB de Villiers keeps wickets. Devdutt Padikkal is an outstanding young talent. You have taken Aaron Finch and you should play him definitely and give him the chance to open.” Aakash Chopra said on his Youtube channel
“Virat Kohli at No.3, AB at No.4, Moeen at No.5 and Shivam Dube at No.6. Now it is looking like a fantastic batting lineup.”
“When he can go to other leagues and keep wickets, then why not here as well”: Aakash Chopra on AB de Villiers
Indian Commentator Aakash Chopra said he would want AB de Villers to keep wickets for RCB because it would help in the team balance. He mentioned the South African has been in top fitness and has been a wicket-keeper in different leagues then he can do so in the IPL too.
“I will do that. Because if he doesn’t do that then Parthiv will have to open. I have already said that Devdutt Padikkal should open. “AB de Villiers has already presented himself as an option. He plays very little cricket and has no fitness issues. When he can go to other leagues and keep wickets, then why not here as well. It just gives you another option as a franchise.” said Chopra
AB de Villiers has been hesitant to keep wickets for a few years now due to his back issues. He was seen with gloves on in the RCB training, which suggested he might be the wicket-keeper for them this season.
The IPL 2020 will begin from September 19 till November 10, a total 53-day campaign will see all the eight teams play in UAE. The venue this time is UAE and matches will be played in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah.
