Australian opening batsman Aaron Finch, who returned to the limited-overs side in Indore to stack up his eighth One-day international hundred after recovering from a calf injury.
Finch reveals the visitors are supposed to give hundred percent, in a bid to yield the desired results in the subcontinent against a quality side like India while praising the all-round efforts of opposition players.
While replacing unimpressive Hilton Cartwright, Finch expressed his satisfaction to be among runs straightaway.
“You have to play 100 percent to beat (India) in these conditions,” Finch was quoted as saying by Cricket Australia.
The 30-year-old Victoria-born right-handed batsman Finch reiterated it’s quite tough to be on the losing side while adding the ninety percent won’t pay any dividends, as Australia has already lost the series 0-3.
“If you play 90 percent, it’s not good enough here,” Finch maintained.
Interestingly, Australia has lost 11th game in their previous 13 50-over fixtures while playing in the away conditions, as the batting woes has been a huge concern for the Steven Smith.
“We’ve been in a couple of good positions in the first few games and as soon as you give India a sniff, they’ll beat you nine times out of 10,” Finch stated.
On a placid surface, the top-order batsman Finch smashed 124 off 122 deliveries in the third ODI. He smashed 12 boundaries and five maximums.
“If (the calf) had have gone again last night, I might have been in a bit of strife,” Finch added.
However, his triple-figure knock was not enough, as Indian batsman came up with a solid show with the bat – to chase down the target of 294 in 47.5, as Hardik Pandya was the chief architect with the bat alongside opening batsmen in the form of Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane.
“You have to play well but I think you also have to go in with the right attitude and make sure that when you do get an opportunity to win a game, you don’t let that slip,” Finch asserted.

Moreover, the comeback century brought displeasure to the experienced campaigner Finch following another loss, as skipper Steven Smith urged his players to give their best shot after the series has already been declared in India’s favour.
“Whenever you’re losing, it’s never easy,” Finch remarked.
Pertinently, the Australian batsman Finch has gone through a tough phase since making his international appearance.
Following the five-wicket loss, Finch lamented the miss chances had cost the visitors badly and which allowed the hosts to dominate both with the bat and a ball.
“Winning away from home is what every side strives to achieve and I think whenever you start losing, you can lose a little bit of confidence in yourself and in the way you’re playing,” Finch further added.
However, the Victorian has played to his strength to rise among the ranks in the Australia’s limited-overs set-up, as he was also the part of Michael Clarke-le World Cup winning side in 2015.
“There’s obviously a gap between the sides at the moment and they’re proving that,” Finch concluded.
Brimming with confidence, India would be looking forward to tinkering with the line-up after sealing the series, as the fourth ODI is scheduled on September 28 (Thursday) at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
After making his international appearance in 2011, Finch featured in 83 ODIs and 31 Twenty20 Internationals. He scored 2,799 runs in 50-over format and 1,082 runs in T20 cricket.
