Aaron Finch Eyes Test Spot to Deliver for Australia

Australia’s limited-overs batsman Aaron Finch still harbours the dream of playing red-ball cricket for his country. Eventually, he embarks for a winter of limited-overs cricket.
The swashbuckling opener is also eager to shrug off the tag as the white-ball specialist.
Meanwhile, Finch will now take part in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and fly to the United Kingdom – to play T20 cricket for Surrey.
The Victorian Finch has a staggering record in the first-class cricket. Since 2014, Finch averages 49.27 in first-class cricket when he first took up county contract.
It includes more than 1,600 runs in Australia at the average of 50.59. Moreover, he’s averaging an impressive 46.62 in England’s county system, all amid limited opportunities around white-ball commitments.
Finch admits he had a horrific time in Sheffield Shield between 2011-2014, but the reputation still persists.
“I started off really well in Shield cricket when I first came in, I was 23, got a few runs and then for some reason out of the blue, I just started getting lbw every innings,” Finch told The Howie Games podcast.
With Australia’s Test side is in a state of flux following the ball-tampering saga in South Africa, Finch is hopeful of getting a Test berth. Australia will play Test series against Sri Lanka and India at home, later this year.
“It’d be huge (to play Test cricket), that’s why I still train as hard as I do,” Finch said.
“Four-day cricket I’ve come to the realisation that everyone gets out, regardless if it’s a duck or for 200, everyone gets out eventually in the game of cricket so I’ve embraced that, but don’t be content with getting out,” he added.
Finch also admitted his shock after seeing the events in Cape Town that rocked Australian cricket. He also revealed that they all are great people and it was a wrong judgement they made.
Meanwhile, Finch tied the knots with long-term partner Amy Griffiths last weekend. As a result, he missed Kings XI Punjab’s first game against Delhi Daredevils in Mohali.
