Prior to the start of the riveting second day’s play of the third Test match at Newlands on March 23 in Capetown, both South Africa were busy in preparations and training. However, a camera captured South Africa’s premier pacer Kagiso Rabada, unintentionally, smash their ace batsman AB de Villiers in the face during the training.

Playing a game of soccer is a common training drill which helps players to loosen up. Therefore, the South African team members were engaged in a game of football, before the start of play, in order to warm up.

However, de Villiers closed in on Rabada who went up to appeal over a foul committed by one the South African players.

The lanky speedster Rabada, raised his arms wide open, unaware of AB marking him from behind. As a result, Rabada’s arm smashed into de Villiers’ face, which absolutely shook both the players.

While AB was desperately trying to keep his calm and not give a mouthful to his premier pacer, Rabada on the other hand, remained incessantly apologetic about his action.

Rabada, following the incident, gave a sheepish yet priceless smile to sum the entire situation.

Luckily for de Villiers, the blow did not turn out to be dangerous, as he shrugged it off with a little lick. Also, Rabada gave a big hug from behind while displaying his concern for Mr. 360.

This is not the first time AB de Villiers received a major blow in the face by one of his teammates.

In 2016 Indian Premier League (IPL), de Villiers played a blinder of a knock against Gujarat Lions and took his side to the finals single-handedly in the qualifiers.

RCB were in a spot of bother and in no position to chase down the total. But the 78 he scored turned out to be match-winning and as all his teammates came rushing towards him to celebrate the victory after he hit the winning runs.

One of his RCB mates came in with full throttle to embrace the modern great. The blow hit the helmet and hurt his chin. During the post-match presentation, AB was seen with a bleeding chin.
