AB de Villiers is one of the best batsmen of this generation. He is one of the few players who have a 50-plus average in both Tests and ODIs.The right-handed batsman has conquered different formats and different conditions. One of the most devastating batsmen to ever play the game, his sheer presence on the crease is enough to scare the bowlers and his domination of the bowlers across all the formats is a proof of that. The way he thrashed his compatriot Dale Steyn during an IPL match is still fresh in every fan’s mind.
The South Africa star recently launched his autobiography ‘AB’ which has got a huge response in India. The 32-year old made some revelation that shocked his fans. Mr 360 degree , as he is fondly called due to his ability to hit the balls all around the ground, revealed that Pakistan’s Mohammad Asif, Australia’s Mitchell Johnson and England’s Monty Panesar troubled him the most.
Fans across the world will be absolutely surprised to know another interesting fact about the cricketer. De Villiers claimed that the best bowler he had ever faced is not an international bowler but a cricketer who played just one first-class game. He is De Villiers’ elder brother’s childhood friend Gerrit Deist. De Villiers last played with Deist for the Tukkies. The right-handed batsman says in his autobiography that he never revealed the fact in media just to avoid lengthy explanations.
There were some other interesting stories too about the Proteas’ skipper childhood. He said that he had to play cricket with the seniors and had to remain very cautious as every small mistake would cost him dearly. Well, playing with the seniors might be the reason of De Villiers’ total domination against the bowlers.
