Adam Zampa shared an interesting anecdote of banter involving Virat Kohi which came to bite him later. In the recently concluded IPL 2020, Adam Zampa played for Virat Kohli’s RCB. A good camaraderie was visible between the two during the tournament. But it is not a usual site when they play for their respective national team. The Australian spinner shares a fierce battle with Indian captain Virat Kohli on the cricket field.
In a conversation with Sydney Morning Herald, Zampa recalled how a dig at Kohli came back to haunt him. When he was an uncapped player, he purposely inquired his national teammate and RCB player Kane Richardson who were the two cricketers in his post. The picture had Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers.
“I replied, typical, just taking the piss, ‘Who are they, mate?” Zampa told Sydney Morning Herald. “The Indian fans did not let me live it down. Virat had obviously seen it.
This bloke reads everything on Twitter: Adam Zampa
Well, Virat Kohli noticed Adam Zampa’s Tweet and gave him a reply through his aggressive batting. In leggies’ debut match, the Team India skipper went on to smack him boundaries which made the Aussie realised that he has messed with the wrong person.
“I played my debut, bowled an over to him, the last ball of the over he smacked it for four, came down to me and said, ‘Stay a long way from Twitter, mate. I was like, ‘Geezers, this bloke reads everything on Twitter’. He went on to get 120 (108*) that day. I stoked the fire,” Adam Zampa added.
Adam Zampa and Virat Kohli will once again face each other in the coming limited over series in Australia. The spinner holds the upper hand in the battle against Kohli as he has dismissed on seven occasions across formats. The leggie will aim to dismiss the star batsman a few more times in the upcoming series.
