Aditya Verma calls for N Srinivasan’s recall from ICC chairman’s post
The ICC is one of the biggest sporting organization in the world. The term of the chairman of the ICC is to be decided in the mere future and the BCCI has nominated N Srinivasan for the post in the elections.
Aditya Verma the secretary of the Cricket Association of Bihar has issued a letter in this regard to the president of the BCCI Jagmohan Dalmiya and secretary Anurag Thakur asking them to not only re think the nominee to the post of the chairman of the ICC but to recall the nomination.
In the letter Verma explained how Mr.Srinivasan was asked to step down from the post of the president of the BCCI on 28-03-2014 by the Honorable Supreme Court, constituted a committee under Justice Mukul Mudgal. Verma pointed out that the BCCI did not take into consideration the verdict of this committee and blamed the BCCI for acting selfishly when it was their turn to have the nominee. He also added that the BCCI did not care about the institutional integrity as they overlooked the judgment of the Supreme Court.
He wrote in his letter asking for the BCCI to conduct an urgent AGM and change the decision of the nominee which was endorsed before the office bearers of the BCCI have been appointed. He wanted BCCI to demonstrate the respect they have to the Supreme Court by recalling the nomination. He also pointed out the date of the AGM on March 2nd that it was the day the nomination was endorsed and stated that the office bearers were not in appointment by the date.
Verma also argued that Mr.Srinivasan was present in all the proceedings leading to the endorsement of his nomination and that the nomination as such unacceptable. He said that it is highly objectionable that the AGM endorsed a man who was declared not fit for any post and they erred in their endorsement.
He said that the AGM of the BCCI had reasonable chance to call back their nomination on 22-01-2015 and that they “erred grievously” in their nomination.
He pointed how the Supreme Court appointed the Hon’ble Justice Lodha Committee which is looking into the depth of punishment to be awarded to the guilty in the IPL match fixing scam. He said that it is more of a reason that Srinivasans nomination should be called back because the guilty in the above scam is his son in law and his team The Chennai Super Kings.
