In times when the side is going through a rough phase, it becomes highly essential that the captain is backed by his players. Without the belief and support in the skipper, no side can achieve success, as the captain is the individual who binds the team together like a family.
India’s latest series loss to Bangladesh has presented the true avatars of several individuals. While some people in India are vouching for the exile of Dhoni and perceiving him as the culprit, there are some individuals who back the Indian skipper. Gladly for Dhoni, the people who are backing him the most are none other than his teammates.
Recently, Suresh Raina spoke at length about the positives of Dhoni as the leader. Raina had said that ups and downs were a part of the game and just one series loss wouldn’t make the Indian team a poor side. After Raina now, it is Delhi macho Shikhar Dhawan, who has publically supported Dhoni.
Dhawan, who was India’s best batsman on the Bangladesh tour, spoke about Dhoni and how his presence makes the side more competent and confident. “It gives me a lot of confidence to see him walk into the middle while I am at the crease. We also enjoy each other’s company and so it’s fun batting with him. The way he adapts to various situations makes my life easier,” Dhawan told bcci website.
Dhawan, who has enjoyed tremendous success under Dhoni’s leadership was positive about the future and said that the skipper would deliver the goods in the days to come. Dhawan also spoke about the technical aspects of batting with Dhoni. “He also rotates the strike excellently when required and doesn’t let any scoreboard pressure build on his partner. Having him in the middle-order is very advantageous for us. I feel it’s a very good move,” he added.
This surely seems to a great thing for the Indian side, as the players back the skipper when the chips are down. It only reflects the faith and positivity emerging out from the Indian camp.
