Age No Bar: Kevin Pietersen Proves That He Still A Young Cricketer
Apr 6, 2019 at 2:09 PM
Most cricketers tend to slow down as once the age columns start showing the number in the 30’s. Kevin Pietersen is a different breed, however. The 37-year-old cricketer is becoming only better and more invincible with the age.
After a bitter breakup with the ECB in 2012/13 which led to the end of his international cricket career, Pietersen switched to the razzmatazz of T20 franchise cricket and continued his dominance over the bowlers around the world. His performances with the willow have been so good that it has kept the clichéd debate surrounding the effect of age on his form shut.
Four sixes off as many balls
Kevin Pietersen is still in his prime. An example of it can be his recent thrashing of South African off spinner Simon Harmer during the Natwest Series Blast. As the commentator said – KP hit not one, not two, not even three but four handsome sixes off the spinner’s bowling and decimate the confidence of the opposition.
More amusingly, this incident was a sort of celebration for his return to English cricket.
He made his first appearance on UK soil for over two years and went on to smash a quick 52 runs knock to entertain the crowd including the four ball – bonus. He was representing Surrey and was welcomed with a loud cheer from the crowd.
Batting I his typical style, KP unleased series of unorthodox shots to commence his innings before tonking handing over royal bashing to County Championship’s highest wicket-taker in the 11th over of the innings.
