This tour game is an audition for him to retain his place in the Test side, as despite being selected for the four match series against England, he didn’t get a chance to make his debut.
Heino Kuhn was preferred over him, and with the senior player failing to make the opportunity count, there can be a chance when Markram might retain his place in the Test side and open the innings as well.
He recently led South Africa A in two unofficial Test match series against India A, which ended in a draw with both the team winning a game each. He scored a total of 194 runs in four innings, including two half-centuries. An impressive show in the practice match can guarantee him a place in playing XI for the Test series against the visitors. The practice game will be played from September 21 to 23.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh Cricket Bard (BCB) has also announced squad for the two match Tests series. While Mahmudullah, Subashis Roy, and Rubel Hossain were called in the side, Nasir Hossain was dropped. In addition to that, Shakib-al-Hasan was also given a rest from the series. He had himself requested the board to give him a break.
