Aiden Markram has been appointed as the captain of South Africa A team for the two unofficial Tes matches against India A. The right handed batsman is currently with the national squad in England and was not released earlier for the tri-nation series. Markram though didn’t get a chance to make his debut on the tour. He was selected in the team as a standby for Faf du Plessis, who missed the first Test match due to the birth of his child. Dean Elgar led the side in his absence.
The South Africa A squad includes like of David Miller and Stephen Cook –who was dropped from the national side for the Test England series. His dropping was seen as the end of his career but this selection has given him a big reprieve. The squad also includes all-rounder Andile Phehlukwayo, who is currently with the Test side.
The first unofficial Test against India A will kick off from August 12. The second and the last Test will be played from August 19.
