Air India Promotes India Pacer Jhulan Goswami 1

The India women pacer, Jhulan Goswami, has been promoted by Air India after a superlative show from the women’s team in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2017. Goswami, the highest wicket-taker in the history of women cricket (ODI), shone for the team in the final where she scalped three quick wickets in the middle overs to restrict England to score of 228. However, team India failed to chase down the total and found themselves short by a margin of nine runs.

“The Air India CMD had called me in Delhi and I was offered the promotion from (Deputy Manager),” Goswami told PTI. “We’ve been playing non-stop cricket so at the moment there will be a break. Next year, we have World Twenty20 and we will prepare for that as a team,” she added.

Ater the success of the women’s team in the World Cup, the voice of IPL for them has been there in the cricket circles and skipper Mithali Raj too had said that it is the best time for IPL. There are talks that BCCI might look to organise an event like Indian Premier League, which recently completed its 10 years.

On being asked whether she would be available for a tournament like this, Goswami said that she is it enough to play in the tournament,

“Of course, I will be available as a player. I’m still fit enough to play in IPL if at all it happens.”

With the Women’s World Cup dusted, the Indian team is eyeing the T20 World Cup, which is to be held next year. Last year, India failed to qualify for the second round of the tournament, which was held in India. The success of the team in 50 overs World Cup will surely play a big role in this team eyeing for success next year where captain Mithali Raj will have an opportunity to lift an ICC Trophy, before retiring from the game.
