Ajinkya Rahane, Ankit Bawne to Lead India A against England Lions
The competition will commence from January 23 at Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram,
Interestingly, all the matches will take place at the same venue. Whereas, Rahane will lead the 15-member India A squad in first three games. Rahane will lead quality India A side which boasts about the high-quality players in the mix.
The reports suggested distinct squads were picked following a brilliant domestic show.
However, while highlighting the importance of domestic set-up, the selection committee has abstained from choosing players from the teams which went on to qualify for the semi-finals of the Ranji Trophy, the coveted first-class competition.
Ankit Bawne to lead India A for the last two One-dayers:
Moreover, Maharastra-based 26-year-old middle-order batsman Ankit Bawne will be at the helm for the fourth and fifth One-day games respectively.
On the other side, promising wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant, who delivered goods in the recently-concluded historic Test series in Australia, is the part of final two matches.
However, Hanuma Vihari also made it to the squad. Recently, he was also the part of India’s 2-1 Test series triumph in Down Under. The squad for first three games include Shreyas Iyer, Krunal Pandya, Mayank Markande and the fast bowler Shardul Thakur. He also made it to the final two one-dayers.
Apart from the day-long format, the two four-day fixtures will be beginning from February 7 at Wayanad in Kerala. On February 13, Mysore will host the second four-day game.
Also, the All India Senior Selection Committee has announced the 13-member Board President’s XI squad. The wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan will lead the side.
The two-day practice game will kick off from February 3.
