Ajinkya Rahane: Ready to bat at any number during ICC Cricket World Cup 2015
Crucial Indian batsman Ajinkya Rahane, who has played 47 ODIs and 14 Tests, does not mind being shuffled in the batting line up as he has taken guard in dissimilar positions and came at no 7 position in India’s latest World Cup triumph against Pakistan but. Ajinkya Rahane said that the batting skills remains identical which is irrespective of his position and only flexibility of mind is needed to make the adjustment.
Ajinkya said that one need to be pliable and he is ready to bat at any position in the batting line up. One need to have an open mind to accept this. The batting skills, which is irrespective of the number you are batting at, remains the same. Rahane said, the brain needs to be also pliable and positive to be able to bat at any position. He said that if the thought is practical then it instinctively accepts to the circumstances. When he bats at fourth or fifth his mind instantaneously goes to strike rotations and scoring posibilities according to the circumstances. He always has practical thoughts in his mind and speak to himself about it.
Rahane in an exclusive interview to bcci.tv said that playing in his 1st World Cup he is very happy. The 26-years old also said that he has been practicing on a range of shots as he targets to make a benchmark in the ICC World Cup. He was quoted saying: “I have been working on shot selections. I have been working on shots that I am uncomfortable playing so that I can score even off them if the opposition has a different field placed for me. When you play certain shots, again there are mind games that you play with your opposition. There is risk involved but you need to take them.”
The World Cup debutant player said that the boundaries there are broader and have a different angle and the inside-out shots work. He wants to try dissimilar batting shots and play according to his power. If the opponent plan fields then he does not want to play in their hands. Instead he wants to look at dissimilar scoring spaces, so that it could open up a range of other stylish shots.
When he was asked about how the cricketers kept themselves fresh in a long tour, Rahane replied that they are all professional cricketers and one cannot whine about things like home sickness. If his brain gets trembled by such factors then it starts to affect his presentation. He is only trying to relax his mind as much as he can and not get confused from the ultimate target
