Team India vice-captain in Tests, Ajinkya Rahane, will be playing for India A ahead of India’s tour to England. A report in the PTI suggested he will be playing against the England Lions for the first game of India A. Rahane is not part of India’s limited-overs squad. He will try to figure out the conditions before the Test series which starts from August 1. Meanwhile India A side will be led by Karun Nair.
Rahane firm to return to form
If Rahane was part of the ODI and T20I squad he would have got acclimatised to the conditions. However, his only practice in England will be for the 2nd string Indian side.
Some top players are also expected to join Rahane in the squad. It will mostly consist of some of the Test specialists. Team India regular skipper Virat Kohli might play for India A as well.

There is a break of a couple of weeks between the Tests and the limited-overs series. Hence he might be seen in India A colours.
Virat looks to turn tables around
Virat was slated to play for Surrey in June to get used to the conditions. However, a neck injury ruled him out of the stint. Kohli has proved his fitness now and is all set to join the team for the two-match T20I series against Ireland followed by the extended tour of England.
According to the schedule of the England tour, India A will be playing England Lons in a tri-series also featuring Windies A. After that India A side will play first-class games against England Lions and the Windies A.
The players who are part of tri-series will start their campaign on 22nd June. Shreyas Iyer will lead the side, and they will be playing two practice games before that.
India A tour is a limited opportunity for the players to impress their selectors and make a case for themselves to represent the senior team. India A will be coached by the legendary Rahul Dravid who is also the coach of the U-19 team.
