The Kevin Pietersen’s saga of being excluded from the team took a new route after Alistair Cook was blamed for Kevin Pietersen’s absence in the squad by providing an ultimatum.

Andrew Strauss the new director of the ECB left Kevin Pietersen out of the New Zealand tour. However, reports emerged that the decision taken by Strauss was severely affected by the stance taken by the skipper Alistair Cook. It is believed that the captain issued an ultimatum against Kevin Pietersen and that he was ready to leave the team if Kevin Pietersen was selected. This controversy is what is making more headlines than the sport that is to start in less than a day.

However, Alastair Cook denied that he had anything to do with the exclusion of Kevin Pietersen from the team and said that all the decisions are taken by Strauss and Tom Harrison the ECB chief executive. But Cook went on to say that he supported the team selection of leaving him out but that the decision was taken by the men in-charge and that the players were made very clear about it.

Cook added that they as a team have put behind the whole controversy and that the story has been handled well by the ECB. He added that it will not affect him and that he will be responsible for the team once they get onto the field.

The first match between the two teams is set to start on Thursday the 21st of May.
