Alex Hales Reveals Australian Bowler Who Has Troubled Him a Lot

Alex Hales must be ruing an opportunity of playing ICC World Cup 2019 at home, but following a failure in a drug test, his hopes dashed after England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has withdrawn his name from the provisional World Cup squad. Now, ahead of the clash of heavyweights; England and Australia the opening batsman has revealed about his plans and nightmares, at the same time.
However, the prominent figure in English set-up has made a return in the county cricket following a break from the cricket. Earlier, after failing to clear the drug test for the second time, Hales had faced a backlash despite being warned behind the curtains.
In between, Hales’ news of 21-day ban leaked in English media, which further forced ECB to take immediate steps.
With Australia ready to take hosts at the iconic Lord’s on Tuesday (June 25), Hales is equally eager to witness the clash of the titans. Recently, the Three Lions lost their game against Sri Lanka which eventually kept them under pressure after losing to Pakistan earlier this month.
Also, a loss against Australia would add miseries to English camp, as they are bound to win both their remaining games which also includes a match against India on the 30th of June at Edgbaston in Birmingham.
While shedding light on the England-Australia rivalry, Hales believes the pace duo in the form of Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins would pose a threat to any of the opponents. He added they’ve done exceedingly well against England and have trouble the batters with the new-ball.
Besides, the 30-year-old Hillingdon-born top-order batsman didn’t shy away from admitting the fact that speedster Cummins has proven to be a nightmare for him.
Pat Cummins, a nightmare for Alex Hales:
Pertinently, Hales has an awful record against the right-armer. Cummins has dismissed him on four occasions as he went on to concede just three runs. Thus, it reveals how Cummins has been a nemesis for Hales.
“I think Mitchell Starc and Cummins both are very different bowlers and they work so well in tandem. I’ve had nightmares facing Cummins in the past. I think he has got me out four times and I’ve scored three runs. So I’m averaging 0.75 against him,” Hales told in an interview to Sky Sports.
While speaking about his performance against Australia, it’s equally unhealthy, to say the least. Hales has accumulated 164 runs at 23.42 in seven ODI innings. He has managed a single half-century against the Australians.
Apart all this, Hales is hopeful to see English openers thwarting the potential threat of Australian pace battery.
