Legendary wicketkeeper-batsman MS Dhoni has come up with a heartwarming gesture for Afghanistan opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz. The Chennai Super Kings skipper has gifted him his signed jersey.
MS Dhoni and Gurbaz recently played against each other when they represented their respective teams in the Indian Premier League. Gurbaz plied his trade for Kolkata Knight Riders and played some impressive knocks. While he was previously signed up by Gujarat Titans in 2022 as Jason Roy’s replacement, he could not make his IPL debut.
KKR then traded him from the Titans camp and finally gave him the opportunity to make a mark in the IPL. The highly-rated batsman played 11 games in IPL 2023 and scored a total of 227 runs with the help of two fifties and a strike-rate of over 130.

On Tuesday (June 20), Gurbaz took to Instagram to reveal the gift he has received from MS Dhoni. He posted a photo of himself posing with the signed jersey and wrote: “Thanks @mahi7781 sir for sending the gift all the way from india”
Meanwhile, MS Dhoni led Chennai Super Kings to a record-equaling fifth IPL title. The veteran wicketkeeper-batsman led the team from the front once again and received praise from all over for his leadership. In the final, Chennai Super Kings defeated defending champions Gujarat Titans to win a thrilling game.
MS Dhoni became just the second captain after Rohit Sharma to lead a team to five IPL titles. The former India skipper is likely to play next IPL too. Soon after the final this year, he underwent a knee surgery in order to have enough time to recover for IPL 2024.
