Always An Honour To Represent The Country – Shubman Gill On Maiden Test Call
Sep 12, 2019 at 7:34 PM
India’s prodigy batsman Shubman Gill finally received his maiden Test call as he is included in the three-match Test series against South Africa. The 20-year old batsman has impressed with his performances and his call-up to the national side was on the cards. Gill had also received a chance before the World Cup in the series against New Zealand but had failed to grab his chance.
Subsequently, Gill was up to the mark in the recently concluded A tour of West Indies. The stylish batsman was the Man of the series as he scored three fifties in the four innings of the five-match series. Furthermore, he scored a double century in the third unofficial Test match against West Indies A.
Gill is the future of Indian cricket.
In fact, Gill was expected to be part of the senior side for at least one of the squads. But the selectors did not give him the opportunity. Interestingly, GIll had also shown his disappointment after he left out of the squad.
Meanwhile, Gill had a fine domestic season for Punjab before he started to make a name for himself with the A-side. There is no denying the fact that the stylish batsman is the future of Indian cricket. Thus, it would be interesting to note whether he would get a chance to prove his mettle in any of the three-Test matches against South Africa.
Rohit Sharma will open the innings for India with Mayank Agarwal as KL Rahul is dropped after poor performances.
