Amir will get a good reception in England: Shane Warne 1

Former Australian cricketer and legendary leg-spinner, Shane Warne has expressed his confidence in the ability of Pakistan’s star bowler Mohammad Amir to be at his best during the upcoming England tour.

The 46-year old believes it will be a “who has a better bowling attack” competition in the series as both England and Pakistan boast excellent bowling units and he also feels that the top-order batsmen of both the teams would be tested against such quality attacks.

“I think both the bowling sides will be good,” said Warne. “I think the top order will be tested, of both Pakistan and England.”

One of the major things about the series would be the return of Mohammad Amir to the test squad after a five-year long ban that he faced for his match-fixing act at Lords in 2010. Exactly after 6 years, the pace bowler is set to make a comeback in tests in the iconic ground on July 14.

Asked if English fans would give the young pacer hard time while playing, Warne disapproved the possibility as he said: “I am sure he will get a good one. I feel for him. He’ll be fine. He is an excellent bowler. Hopefully, he will be at his best for the series.“

Warne also reckons that weather in England would make things difficult for the batsmen in the series as they need more technique to adapt to the conditions.

“The weather has been horrific, pitches are going to nip around and seam. So, it is going to be tough for those top-order batters. I think it is going to be a good series.”

Mohammad Amir had made his return to international cricket on January 15, in a T20 International against New Zealand. Pakistan who has won the last two series played between the sides are looking to continue momentum against an inspired English team who are in jaw-dropping form at the moment.

The tour is scheduled to have four Tests, five ODIs and a T20 match besides few warm-up matches over the next two and half months.
