Analysis: Champion Bravo denied Dhoni the last over glory!
Everyone stunned for this, WI Player Killed Indian Bowler. Dhoni Angry, Binny Cant Believe This.
There was action, drama, romance, Sixes, fours, two centuries, last ball finish and a champion act. Can the residents of America ask for something else?
The 240 balls of the contest kept spectators on their edge of seats right throughout the game as in the first innings it was Evin Lewis and in the second innings, it was KL Rahul who with their classy acts kept the spectator interested in the game. The American people got full value for their money as they couldn’t’ve asked for anything better than this.
We saw a dramatic tale between bat and ball which saw records tumbling as every delivery passed.
M.S. Dhoni taking a lesson from the late T20I game won the toss and invited West Indies to bat first. The game though started on a low note with news of Gayle being injured and missing the game but there was another Gayle who fired shots like him. Evin Lewis played like the boss of the world imitating Chris Gayle and did not let us think of Gayle for even a second. He was hitting sixes at will and at once was inching towards the record of fastest century in T20I’s but missed it by the delay of just 3 balls.
Whilst he was murdering the white ball like a cruel butcher, his partner Johnson Charles too was enjoying his stay at crease hitting boundaries like Lewis. He and Lewis scored team’s century in just 7.4 overs. Both shared a partnership of 126 runs in just 9.3 grilling each and every Indian bowler. They could have batted for long but Charles got complex as Lewis was playing a Gayle, so he decided to imitate AB De Villiers.
Charles sat on his knees facing fast bowler like ABD but end being Charles only as the ball found a way between his legs and banged on the stumps. He was dismissed scoring 79 runs off just 33 balls.
West indies team plundered 132 runs in the first 10 overs of the game.
Stuart Binny was called into a ball the 11th over and what we saw next was something we will never be able to forget.
Binny was ready with the ball, he ran in slowly delivered the first ball and bang, six. He again ran in, delivered the ball and another six. The same thing continued till next five balls and at once Lewis was on verge hitting six sixes in an over. Along with that, he was on his way of equalling Gayle record of scoring 37 runs in an over as Binny bowled a wide once.
It was the last ball, the crowd was excited, so as the fans here but Lewis missed the final hit and had to satisfy with just a single.
Stuart Binny narrowly missed on being second Stuart Broad. He was Lucky!
The West Indies team finished their innings with a score of 245 runs.
The Indian batsmen after a break of 15 minutes stepped on the field with a hope of crossing the 245 run mark.
The Indian start was 50% similar to the start of West Indies as Indian batsmen fired some shots but lost two early wickets in form of Rahane and Kohli. Rahane after suffering a blow on the helmet played one over slips in order of getting a boundary but champion Bravo pulled off a blinder to dismiss him. He came in running from the third man, covering miles before diving towards the ball like he is driving in a pool. The catch was taken and Rahane had a long walk back.
His successor at the crease Virat Kohli received a loud cheer on his arrival but he too disappointed playing a disgusting shot off Dwayne Bravo.
Now the onus was on Rohit Sharma to sail team’s boat past the winning total, he was doing well and got full support from KL Rahul who during the course overshadowed Rohit Sharma by hitting some brilliant shots. Rohit and Rahul were on the right track before Rohit got dismissed trying to play a big hit. Both Rohit and Rahul shared 89 runs in just 43 balls.
KL Rahul continued his assault and tortured the bowlers to the level of Lewis which is evident from the fact that he too was once close to getting a record of the fastest century but missed the record by just one ball. At the other end, Dhoni too was trying hard to finish the game.
The match went to the wire as team India needed just 8 runs of last over. Batsmen could just’ fetch 4 runs off the first four balls. Needing 4 of last two, Dhoni went for a double on second last delivery.
It was the last ball, finisher Dhoni was on strike, Bravo was the bowler. He came in bowled last ball and out! Yes, Dhoni got dismissed off the last ball which shattered India’s hopes.
Champion Bravo had done it and sealed the nail-biting thriller for his team.
The match was over, Champion Bravo was the winner in the end not giving even a single run for a tie.
At last, it was a perfect Saturday start for the American people who will continue to enjoy the jamboree the following day.
