The rumors of the rift began when Russell had questioned the team’s decisions in a press conference last year. Later, Dinesh Karthik had on multiple occasions said they had had a discussion and sorted things out.
KKR’s squad with players from Indian and few foreign players have already reached the venue for IPL this term which is UAE. They have completed the mandatory quarantine and are training. KKR are staying at The Ritz-Carlton Abu Dhabi, Grand Canal.
“There is no malice… Dinesh Karthik only cares about winning the game”: David Hussey
Former Australian cricketer David Hussey who has joined KKR as a mentor this season has stated there are no hard feelings between skipper Karthik and star all-rounder Andre Russell. He also said there is the bromance between the duo and they are pretty close which is good for the team. Hussey heaped praises on Karthik’s leadership skills and his will to win.
“There is no rift or anything there. Actually, I think there is a bit of bromance there and they are pretty close which is fantastic for the group,” Hussey said in an interview to Indian Express.
“Karthik is a straightforward person who backs his teammates to get the job done. It’s a good sign of leadership. He is high maintenance at times because he loves the game of cricket. There is no malice… he only cares about winning the game,” David Hussey added.
David Hussey feels Eoin Morgan and Dinesh Karthik’s partnership will be fantastic for KKR
England skipper Eoin Morgan has returned for a second stint with the Kolkata based side. Hussey feels the duo of Morgan and Karthik will be a fantastic partnership on the field as Morgan can act as the vice-captain and help out bowlers in certain situations with DK behind the stumps.
Morgan is a classy-middle order player. Along with DK, I am sure it will be a fantastic partnership on the field. DK from behind the stumps and Morgan can be sort of the vice-captain and help the bowlers out in certain situations. He will fit in perfectly,” David Hussey said.
The 13th edition of IPL is set to begin from September 19 till November 10, a total 53-day campaign will see all the eight teams play in UAE. The venue this time is UAE and matches will be played in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah.
