Angry Lodha Panel wants to dismantle entire BCCI administrative system, including sacking president Anurag Thakur! 1

Supreme Court appointed Lodha Committee wants to dismantle the current administrative system at BCCI. Lodha Panel annoyed with Anurag Thakur, for non-compliance of SC order.

The Lodha Committee asked BCCI to implement its recommendations within six months. But, BCCI is not interested in implementing the recommendations.

“You (BCCI) are behaving like Lords. Fall in line otherwise we will make you fall in line,” the bench said, adding that, “BCCI is bringing the system to disrepute by not following the directions”.

Senior advocate Arvind Datar appearing for BCCI said that they have complied with most of the directions and would gradually comply with the rest. To this the bench said, “Law needs not to be defied. We are not happy about the things going on. We anticipated this approach from BCCI but this is not done. You will have to fall in line with the directions of the court.”

The Lodha Committee was appointed following the 2013-2014 IPL controversy during the tenure of N. Srinivasan.

The conflict of interest issue forced Srinivasan to stay away from BCCI’s day to day work.

The investigation found many flawed activities at BCCI, so the Supreme Court appointed justice RM Lodha lead committee  to overhaul the entire administrative system of cricket in the country.

There was a tussle between Lodha Panel and BCCI as they don’t want to implement the recommendations.

BCCI recently held its Annual General Meeting where secretary Ajay Shirker was elected unopposed.

Currently, Anurag Thakur is waiting for the Sports Bill, which is expected to be passed in the winter season of Loksabha, so the Lodha Panel recommendations will not have any importance after that.

The current government as well wants, allegedly, BCCI under Anurag Thakur to not implement the recommendations as Supreme Court and BJP government has an ego problem so they are in a battle to defeat one another.
